Luca La Rovere holds a PhD in History of the ruling classes from the French Revolution to 20th century and is professor of Contemporary History and Cultural History of Contemporary Europe at the University of Perugia (Italy).
He has received scholarships and fellowships from the Italian National Council of Research, the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Wisconsin and others public institutions and private foundations. He has recently coordinated a research group on neo-fascism in Umbria and directed, with prof. Ian Opris (University of Bucharest), the research project “The power of art. Art at the Service of Politics from the Middle Ages to the 20th Century”.
He has participated in the research project: The Sindicato Universitario del Trabajo (SUT) in Franco’s Spain. A Comparative European Approach (1950-1970).. He is a specialist in Italian Fascism and political and cultural history of the 20th century. He is the author of books and articles on the formation of the youth during fascism, on culture and intellectuals in fascist regime, on antisemitism, on the transition from fascism to post-fascism, on neo-fascism and radical right. Among his academic publications: Storia dei Guf. Organizzazione, politica e miti della gioventù universitaria fascista, 1919-1943, (2003), L’eredità del fascismo.
