The book “Machiavelli in the Spanish-Speaking Atlantic World, 1880-1940”, by our researcher Leandro Losada, has recently been published by Edinburgh University Press.

The book analyses the reception of Machiavelli’s works in modern Latin America and Spanish-speaking political thought between 1800 and 1940. Combining history and political theory, the book compares the reception of Machiavelli between North and South America and between Spain and Latin America. Focusing on the analysis of specific topics, the book argues that Machiavelli’s impact on liberal and illiberal authors was significant.
