Joaquim Maria Puigvert holds a PhD in History and is tenured professor in Universitat de Girona, where leads the Càtedra Martí Casals of medicine and health in rural areas. He is also member of the consolidated research group “Institucions, Treball i Gènere” in Universitat de Barcelona. He is a specialist in Social and Cultural History and has worked in the links between society and Curch in the Modern and Contemporary Ages in Catalonia. He also focused his works in liberal professions in the Contemporary World, paying special attention to social origins and professional careers in medicine, architecture, pharmacy and veterinary. Among his numerous publication, with plenty of journal articles and book chapters, highlight Església, territori i sociabilitat als segles XVII-XIX (2001), Josep Danés i Torras. Noucentisme i regionalisme arquitectònics (2008), Materials per a l’estudi de la masia de Josep Danés i Torras (2010, with Jeroni Moner) and Pere Alsius i Torrent (1839-1915): un farmacèutic entre la Renaixença literària i la científica (2016). He has also been curator of the exhibition La Mancomunitat de Catalunya a les Terres de Girona (2014, with Narcís Figueras). He coordinated the book Balnearios, veraneo, literatura. Agua y salud en la España contemporánea (with Narcís Figueras).
